Why Do I Get Nauseous When Anxious?

  • Try diaphragmatic breathing: Breathe into your belly, not your chest — this directly massages the vagus nerve and tells your digestive system it's safe to relax.
  • Move your body: A short walk or gentle stretching burns off the adrenaline surge that's contributing to the nausea.
  • Name the sensation: Simply telling yourself 'this is anxiety nausea, not illness' reduces the secondary panic that amplifies it.
